Minds On Fire is an independent publishing company tailored to electronic music, working directly with artists and also offering publishing administration services to record labels.
It was founded in 2011 by James Pitt and Simon Harris, two men who have racked up over 35 years of experience in the music business between them. No, they can scarcely believe it either. In that time they’ve worked with a long list of brilliant companies, including EMI Music Publishing, Fabric, Your Army, Virgin Records, EMI Records and Polydor Records.
As the music industry changes, publishing becomes an increasingly important income stream for songwriters. In order to be sustainable, it makes a huge difference to work alongside a team who’s right for you, who will work hard to push your music. Could that team be Minds On Fire? Yes it could, thanks for asking but we guess you want to know why.
Well, we understand that electronic music is unique in the music industry, in its creation, in the culture that surrounds it and in how it is marketed. It’s the fastest developing type of music out there, with new genres born on an almost weekly basis. While other genres rely on constantly revisiting the past, across electronic music people are continuously pushing forward and finding new sounds. That’s what makes it thrilling to be a part of, and why we chose to focus on it exclusively. First and foremost, we’re electronic music fans. We want as many people as possible to access it and experience it, and to ensure that the people making the music can earn a living doing what they love so that they can continue to innovate.
Based in London, Minds On Fire takes a forensic approach to internationally tracking and collecting royalties for the artists and labels we represent – we care about every penny. Basically, if there’s money out there due to you, we’ll find it and bring it back, like Indiana Jones. Kind of.
